Allison:
Your informal poll sounds very interesting. Particularly because the institution where I work is gearing up to tag our finding aids and also have them searchable from our website. Would you mind forwarding your findings (even as raw data) to me? It would be very useful to a neophyte like myself.
I apologize for not being able to respond, but again we are taking our first steps into the twenty-first century. Many thanks.

Subject: Search Engine poll
Hi all,
We're shopping around for indexing software to search our EAD finding aids from our website. I've looked at several online pages to get an idea of what different institutions are using and what the costs are - for example, the EAD help pages for Indexing and Delivery at http://jefferson.village.virginia.edu/ead/sitesann-5.html; as well as a page listing Search Tools products at http://www.searchtools.com/tools/.
However, I thought I'd take an informal poll here on the EAD listserv. If you can, please let me know
a.) what you are using for searching finding aids at your institution;
b.) how you came to decide upon that solution; and
c.) if it's worth what you paid for it.
Any information you can provide would be most welcome!
Thanks again,
Alison Hinderliter
