Would somehow abusing the disk edges be a useful test for durability?

I just separated the halves of a DVD-R disc that had failed in the burn. It
was surprizingly easy.
The center had already partly delaminated so a knife blade inserted there
poped the disc apart. There appeared to have been some adhesion around the center
and at the edge, but practically no effort was needed to separate the
recordable area. Only at one point on the edge was there enough to cause the plastic
to crack.
This was an off-brand label. It would be interesting to know if some of the
major recommended brands are more resistant to distruction.
