Inspecting the edge before use is worthwhile. The reflective layer
should end about 1 mm from the edge. The seal along the edge of the DVD

I have a DVD-R from a reputable manufacturer with a reflective layer
extending all the way to the edge! This has begun to corrode in less
than a year! This problem was recognised in the early days of CD
production but is being repeated with DVD!
