The Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution will be seeking an
independant contractor to provide archival related services to support a
project to enhance access to the papers of Tomas Ybarra-Frausto,
an educator, scholar, gadfly, and poet. In 1996 he donated his voluminous
research materials on Chicano art to the Archives of American Art. The
collection, amassed throughout Ybarra-Frausto's long and distinguished
career as a scholar of the arts and humanities, documents the development of
Chicano art in the United States and chronicles Ybarra-Frausto's role as a
community leader and scolar in the political and artistic Chicano movement
from its inception in the 1960s to the present day.
The contractor will update an existing EAD (encoded archival description)
electronic finding aid to the 28 linear foot collection, creating
item-level entries/tags for the collection, as well as select documents
for
scanning, and linking the files to the finding aid for access via AAA's
website.
