Dear all,
The message below was sent to LIS educators few weeks ago to alert them that RDA, not AACR3, will be coming. Maybe this message will address Mr. Truitt's concerns.

Dear all,
In case you are interested in cataloging rules, here are a few news items about this effort. They are provided by Barbara Tillett, a member of the Joint Steering Committee for Revision of AACR (JSC).
1. Outcomes of the JSC meetings are posted under "News & Announcements" on the JSC Web site at http://www.collectionscanada.ca/jsc/index.html You will find plans for the next cataloging code here.
2. JSC has decided to take a new direction rather than produce a new edition of AACR. "Resource Description and Access" is the working title of the new cataloging code. Dr. Tillett presented a short version of RDA ("Resource Description and Access") at the FRBR Workshop in early May. You can download her presentation via http://slis.cua.edu/ihy/rdashort.ppt
3. An updated PowerPoint file about RDA will be posted at the JSC Web site very soon.
Hope this helps.
Ingrid

Subject: Re: Draft MARBI Agenda Available Online
Hi Jackie... thanks for the agenda.
This question is for Adam, I think. A couple of months ago, you held
out the possibility that we might be meeting jointly with CC:DA to get
an update on AACR3. You indicated that this was dependent on the
progress on AACR3.
Are we to conclude from the agenda that Jackie just sent that there will
be no joint meeting?
thanks,
- mt
