EAD doesn't constrain how <daogrp> can or should be used. Your proposal
is sound (but note that you have left off the closing </daoloc> tag in
the first two <daoloc> elements), but I would recommend that you
document your usage and then be consistent about applying it. In our
own usage, each <daogrp> element corresponds to one traversal, even
though that traversal may link to several different resources. For
example, in the following finding aid
http://www.lib.washington.edu/specialcoll/findaids/docs/photosgraphics/PriorandNorrisPHColl583.xml#i1,
we are using a single <daogrp> element to generate the little camera
icon, but then each <daoloc> element may link to one or more items. The
main thing is consistency. If one encoding practice means one thing in
one finding aid and something different in another and you haven't
created a way to distinguish between the two usages, then you'll run
into problems both in how a stylesheet interprets your code and the
ability to massage, export or otherwise manage your data. A good place
to start is to see how other institutions/consortia are using linking
elements such as <daogrp> by checking out various Best Practice guides
from around the world.
