Marsha:
At Stanford, we've done some testing with a draft version of the PREMIS
"Events" schema to record some preservation risk assessment results, and did
associate them with the administrative section of the METS schema. We plan
to put the technical metadata then, such as that recorded in MIX, into its
own schema, also as part of the amdSec.
As I understand, the schemas were designed to be allowed to be used anywhere
within the METS document, but I think you're wise to try to find out what
others are doing. I don't know if you're aware of the PREMIS implementers'
listserv that the Library of Congress is hosting, but it's possible some
discussions about how people are implementing the schemas will also happen
there. You can find out more about that listserv from the PREMIS website
at: http://www.loc.gov/standards/premis/.
Hope this helps.

Subject: [METS] PREMIS and METS?
Greetings to the list,
We've been looking at the new PREMIS data dictionary for preservation
metadata http://www.oclc.org/research/projects/pmwg/, and there are schemas
available, too http://www.loc.gov/standards/premis/schemas.html. Would
metadata in PREMIS be included in (or linked from) Administrative Metadata
in a METS record?
Just wondered if anyone had started thinking about this. Also -- where would
more format-specific technical metadata be located, like MIX metadata?
Many thanks for any thoughts or experiences anyone could share.
