There is an excellent presentation "Is the Semantic Web hype?" (7 March 2005) by Dr. Mark H. Butler of HP Labs Bristol Digital Media Systems Department. It's 44 slides long, but packed full of information. I would suggest that anyone who is interested in the RDF vs. XML debate take a half hour out of their day and go through the presentation. I found the presentation reasonably balanced with well articulated arguments. It was highly informative and well worth the time I spent going through it.
