I'm reading Dance for the Ivory Madonna, by Don Sakers. Set just a few
decades from now, but with very advanced virtual technology, and Africa
has become the new super power in the world. The book was published in
2002. Based on books like this, I'd say speculative fiction remains
quite vital indeed.
