Note that the 639-3 code table is still draft. This particular item is something I feel quite open to changing given apparent justification.

I'm not sure what the basis for suggesting that Sater Frisian is distinct from Eastern Frisian (seems unlikely if Eastern Frisian is only used in Saterland). But, one way or another, the JAC *must* resolve the issue of the relationship of the existing entries fy / fry to the three items "Western Frisian", "Northern Frisian" and "Eastern Frisian" prior to the publication of ISO 639-3. I very much would not like to see this matter delayed. It's been on the table now for 19 months, and the completion of 639-3 is quickly approaching (possibly before the end of 2005).
