I have been working with cylinder and disc recordings of many sizes
compositions and speeds for many years both personally and at the
Belfer Audio Archive here at Syracuse University.
We have an Archeophone with a complete set of mandrels and a set of
styli that will accomodate any size groove I've ever encountered. I
would have liked to have had this system many years ago !!
Presently, I can make 1/4 inch analogue tape and Cd transfers as well
as DAT tape preservation masters.
We are developing a laser playback system using an Archeophone
transport for cylinder based recordings, but at present , it isn't at a
level which can be used for preservation. It's primary function will be
for playback of large grooved wax cylinders.
Please feel free to contact me.

One of our clients has a collection of rare wax cylinders he would
to have transferred into the digital domain. These are of one of his
ancestors who was apparently a renown opera singer in Edison's day.
This is not our business. We specialize in very high quality
analog tape transfers. But, I'd like to help him find the right person
or business to do this for him.
Does anyone know of a commercial transfer house with an Archeophone?
anyone developed an Archeophone with laser pickup?
