Position: Director/Regional Librarian, Georgia Library for Accessible Services
Job Code: GLASS/417/01
Location: Atlanta, Ga.
The Georgia Public Library Service, a unit of the Board of Regents of the University System of
Georgia, is seeking a Director/Regional Librarian, Georgia Library for Accessible Services. The
person will manage comprehensive statewide library services for blind and physically disabled
persons, through a network of 14 subregional libraries and their staff covering the entire state;
coordinate operation of library facilities, services and programs; manage the Atlanta subregional
library; assist in the development and administration of federal and state grant programs; and
develops training and technical assistance for libraries in the state. The Director supervises
employees and contracted vendors and coordinates activities of consumer advisory council.
Extensive travel is required. May occasionally require weekend and evening events.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree in Library Science (M.L.S.) or equivalent from a program accredited by the
American Library Association, and four years of experience in library administration or project
management; Librarian Certification in Georgia (Grade 5-B or higher). Excellent oral and
written communications skills. Ability to work under pressure; attention to detail and ability to
meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prefer five years of strong public library experience and supervisory experience, and three years
of extensive experience working with people with disabilities and related disability agencies and
organizations.
