Issue Date: August 25, 2005
Title: Assistant Director, Library for the Blind and Handicapped
Salary Range: $60,000 or commensurate with experience
Location: NJ Library for the Blind and Handicapped, West Trenton
Reporting to the director of NJLBH, the assistant director supervises Reader Services and the
Youth Services Librarian and manages the Library in the director's absence. Daily
administration of the library includes personnel supervision, facilities and general operations of
the Library for the Blind and Handicapped and its 33 full and part time staff members. The
Assistant Director will also participate in grant writing and report writing, goal-setting, planning
and budgeting as well as in newsletter publication.
Possession of eligibility for a valid certificate as a professional librarian issued by Thomas
Edison State College.
Four years of professional librarian experience, including strong supervisory skills.
Knowledge of Spanish, Sign Language, and issues relating to the Deaf and Hard of Hearing and
the Visually Impaired are an asset, but not required.
