Let me ad the following as regards the tag "sl-IT":
As usual, the situation of Slovene as spoken in Italy is rather complex.
Standard Slovene is, for historical reasons, mostly confined to the provinces of
Gorizia and Trieste.
In the province of Udine, Slovene is mainly represented by dialectal varieties.
These dialects are, from North to South: ziljsko, rezijansko, tersko and
nadisko. Knowledge of Standard Slovene is less wide-spread here and mostly
confined to the nadisko area.
I think the colloquial form of Standard Slovene as spoken in the aforementioned
areas is the language variety that is most aptly tagged as "sl-IT". It would be
different form Standard Slovene as spoken in Slovenia mainly on the levels of
pronunciation and lexicon.
The dialects mentioned earlier on are highly divergent, not only from Standard
Slovene, but also among themselves. Two of them, rezijansko and nadisko, can
also boast a considerable number of publications in the local dialect. Exactly
for these two varieties at the moment IETF tags already exist, to wit "sl-rozaj"
and "sl-nedis".
