I am pleased to draw your attention to the PCC Strategic Planning web site,
newly linked from the PCC Home page. Strategic planning documents will be
stored in this central location and listed in reverse chronological order.
As work progresses, new documents will appear.
Currently a small PoCo group (B. Wiggins, A. MacEwan, L. McKeen, M.
Charbonneau, M. Watson) is working to refine a set of strategic directions
that took shape at the recent PoCo meeting at the Library of Congress.
These directions will point the cooperative in new directions over the next
few years even as we continue to excel in core activities. I am eager to
share these directions with you as soon as possible.
In the meantime, I want to draw your attention to the Report of the TF on
Strategic Directions and the five Vision Statements prepared by PoCo members
R. Sellberg, J. Nadler, C. Ruschoff, B. Wiggins and A. MacEwan. These
documents formed the basis for the strategic planning portion of the PoCo
meeting facilitated by Cindy Todd, University of Maryland. There is much
food for thought in these documents, and they would make for wonderful
discussion pieces at any number of meetings in your library. I encourage
you to take a look and think about your own vision for the future of the
