And here we come back to the beginning of the discussion.
About 6000 messages ago, I said that the marc context set wasn't a
particularly sensible way of searching marc records as it's syntactic,
not semantic.
The counter argument was that there's nothing preventing the syntactic
search as opposed to the semantic version that we would generally
recommend.
The answer to the above question was: That depends on the user.
It does make sense in some cases and it doesn't in other cases. That we
can at least make a reasonable showing of the syntactic searching is
good, and that it becomes very complicated when you want to mix
semantics and syntax is quite understandable.
At which point, I defer to Mike Taylors unmistakable wisdom when he
says:
"Don't Do That Then."
