Perhaps but I suspect that it is not getting anywhere near the stylesheet before the process crashes. This error seems to reflect a problem with processing the DTD itself and not findig the files referenced.
However, I have a more fundamental problem. Why you are getting this reference at all unless you changed XMLchar or SGMLchar from IGNORE to INCLUDE in your DTD file. And if so, why? As I recall unless you make such changes explicitly, there's not need to have these character references at all.

If the file's not valid EAD, the style sheet may have trouble with it as it
is checked against the dtd when it is processed. I'd suggest you test the
setup first with valid, parseable EAD, and when you have it working that way
then you can start experimenting. Otherwise it's hard to say what might be
causing the problem.
That aside, if the entity file is where the location says it is, then you
should be able to view it using that URL in your browser. If you can't --
if you get a 404 File Not Found -- then the xsl processing won't be able to
find it either, which based on the error you report appears to be what is
happening. Do you get a 404? Or do you get a permission denied? If the
latter then perhaps your admin needs to set permissions for that directory
to allow access?

No, I'm not able to get into either the iso-lat1.ent or ead.dtd files
through my browser -- although our administrator assures me that they're
there.
I did not make any modifications to the DTD, although I did make a few
alterations to the stylesheet, and I created some extra tags in the
document itself, so it is not valid EAD. It -is- well-formed, however,
and it does come up normally when I try to open it from the files in my
computer. Could the invalidity be having an effect?

Christopher S.,
Well, I could not get to this file.
http://www.delamed.org/Archives/iso-lat1.ent
Can you get this ent file to come up in your browser?
I could not get the ent file to come up. I got an error message
instead. (file not found)
I had success with the following url:
ttp://www.delamed.org/Archives/ead.dtd
