Title:    Media Technician 2

Salary:   A18 - $36,811. 08 - $50,234.36

Location: New Jersey Library for the Blind and Handicapped
       
Description:

Under supervision of the Head, Shipping, Machine Lending and Media Production, at
the New Jersey Library for the Blind and Handicapped, performs duties related to
media production; collection and equipment maintenance; audiovisual set-up for
library events, and backup support for the library's radio reading service.  Trains and
supervises volunteers to assist in department tasks.  Maintains collection inventory in
specialized databases, orders department supplies and prepares department statistical
reports.  Media production duties include but are not limited to repair and high-volume
duplication of 4-track audiocassettes for mailing to customers, duplication and/or
repair of videocassettes, downloading of digital books, and duplication from reel-to-
reel to cassette.  Must have positive customer service skills.  Other duties as assigned.
       
REQUIREMENTS:

Education:
One (1) year of formal training at a vocational or technical school, or college in audio-
visual production, graphics, and photography and/or electronic theory, practice, and
equipment.

Experience:
One (1) year of experience in media production, equipment, and photographic or
media software.

NOTE: Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute
experience as indicated above on a year-for-year basis. 

License: Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey
only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to
perform the essential duties of the position.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of media hardware, software, and public address system setup.  
Ability to perform preventive maintenance and simple repair of this equipment. 
Familiarity with audio technologies a plus.

Knowledge of computer applications, including Microsoft Word and Outlook.  Ability
to learn and use specialized computer applications related to the job.

Ability to read, write, speak, understand or communicate in English sufficiently 
to perform the duties of the position.
