Principles of Controlled Vocabulary and Thesaurus Design, an
ALCTS/Library of Congress Workshop (*First-Time Offered*)
May 2-3, 2006, Westminster Law Library, University of Denver
Part of the "Cataloging for the 21st Century" series, this two-day
workshop presents an overview of thesaurus design principles, methods
for building a controlled vocabulary, and an examination of selected
controlled vocabularies. This workshop prepares catalogers to defend the
use of controlled vocabularies and to participate in the development of
specialized thesauri or glossaries for specific projects.

that will help them continue to play a significant role in shaping
library services in the emerging digital information environment.
