Subject:    Excess and redistribution program (XESS)

As outlined in Network Bulletin 05-61 (December 16, 2005), network libraries in the Southern
Conference can begin submitting books to be offered in XESS beginning April 3, 2006.  Offers
can be entered online using the new WebXESS interface, accessible from NLS Webnet.  The
XESS forms interface in NLS Webnet remains available to produce paper lists of number ranges
to be offered. Libraries can also submit lists of offered books electronically (Microsoft Excel
format) in the same manner as they have in the past.

Offered books will be compared with wanted books at the end of each month and mailing cards
for the matched books will be produced and sent to the appropriate offering libraries.  At the end
of the first ninety days of this cycle (July), disposal lists will also be prepared in addition to the
monthly mail cards and sent to offering libraries each succeeding month.

The cut-off numbers for the April June 2006 cycle are BR 14800, RD 39885,  RC 57000, and FD
24200.
