Hi,
I want to submit EAD's users an idea. I wish to markup some
bibliographical materials using EAD, and it's not easy. My idea is to
use the bibliographical reference element <bibref> to do this. So, each
book will generate a <c> element, with a <bibref> element inside, like this:
<c level="item">
<did>
<unittitle><bibref><persname>HAROLD, Elliote Rusty</persname>,
<persname>MEANS, W. Scott</persname>. <title render="bold">XML in a
nutshell:</title> a desktop quick reference.
<imprint><geogname>Sebastopol (USA)</geogname>:
<publisher>O'Reilly</publisher>, <date
normal="2002">2002</date>.</imprint> 613 p.</bibref></unittitle>
<unitid>HAR 321 X</unitid>
</did>
</c>
In my point of view, this approach has some advantages:
1) it preserves the information about the bibliographical material;
2) in a multi-document environment, it keeps bibliografical references
always in the same element;
3) it's easy to generate the stylesheet output.
I want to know what more experienced EAD's users think about this kind
of markup. I appreciate your opinion.
Thanks,
José Guilherme
