Sorry, the index title handling should have been
<xsl:template match="head[parent::index]">
<h2><xsl:apply-templates /></h2> (or however you want to format
the index title -- bold, underline, indent, etc)
</xsl:template>
This presumes that you have other templates handling the head element
in other locations; you may have to modify that code to exclude heads
within an index, so there is no confusion between which template
applies. Your XSLT processor will let you know if that happens (it will
error and likely say something about conflicting rules).

Hi all,
I have a query regarding display of <index> tags. I need to set up an
index in one of my finding aids, but my stylesheet is not set up to
display the tags. Can anyone share the coding for this? Stylesheet
coding is, at this point, still relatively uncharted waters for me.
Thanks!
