yes, or as i like to think about it, assertions, their relations, and
their modes. that is, we tend to think of all assertions as created
equal, but we can ask who made the assertion, what the confidence
level they had in their assertions was, what the confidence level we
might have in them (the people or their assertions) is, and so
on. also, some assertions can be descriptive, some prescriptive (e.g.,
assertions about rights), and so on.
