Gary:
If somebody knows the dob of the author and has the time to add
it to the authority record, why don't we let that person do that
by changing the rule a little so that it can be done. If a conflict 
arises later, there will be less work at that time.

I'm going to respectfully disagree.  It's one thing to tinker with a 
heading if we think we look stupid when a heading indicates that some 
is alive when everyone knows that they're dead.  But what exactly is 
the point of tinkering with a perfectly good non-embarrassing heading 
if it's not causing a problem?  Don't we have enough to do already?

(Personal aside to all those out there who think adding *birth* dates 
to non-conflicting headings that don't contain any dates at all is a 
good thing:  Please stop!)
