The Metadata Authority Description Schema (MADS) was designed as a MARC
21-compatible XML format for the type of data carried in records in the
MARC Authorities format. It is compatible with MODS for encoding of
authority data because it was felt that the two would work well together.
We released version 1.0 in April 2005 and released an XSLT stylesheet for
conversion from MARCXML authorities to MADS in late 2005.
We are interested in collecting information about how people are using or
planning to use MADS. We hope to eventually put up a MADS registry similar
to the MODS one. (http://www.loc.gov/standards/mods/registry.php)
Please send information about your MADS use either to this list or
directly to me ([log in to unmask]).
