CJK NACO Training Invitation
Library of Congress
Monday - Wednesday, June 25-27, 2007
The Cooperative Cataloging Team of the Library of Congress and the PCC CJK NACO Project are pleased to announce a three-day CJK NACO training course at the Library of Congress (LC), Washington, DC, June 25-27, 2007. Trainers include the CJK NACO Project Coordinator and experienced NACO trainers from LC.
CJK NACO Project was established in November 2006. The Project intends to serve as a means to share experience and expertise among the participants, especially among those working with relatively small CJK collections, and to achieve a common goal of providing quality and quantity CJK name authority and bibliographical records in a large shared database.
Requirements:
1. Participation is open to CJK catalogers from NACO member institutions and to catalogers whose institutions will become funnel members of the new PCC CJK NACO Project. Information about NACO membership and funnel projects may be found at:
http://www.loc.gov/catdir/pcc/naco/
2. Each institution will be responsible for its participants' travel and accommodation costs. However, there is no fee for the class itself.
3. CJK NACO training manual will be available for use for this event.
Registration for the CJK NACO Training Course:

http://www.loc.gov/catdir/pcc/naco/CJKNACOApplication.html
3. Send an e-mail request to LC Coop Jiping Wu ([log in to unmask]) to register the training course. Submit a form for each participant even though they may be from the same institution.
Deadline: Friday, March 30, 2007
4. Wait for a confirmation of participation in the course before making any travel reservations. Tentative hotel reservations may be made in advance, because they are more flexible.
Confirmation will be sent out on Friday, April 6, 2007, a week after class registration deadline
Participants must arrange for their own accommodations. Capitol Hill Suites (http://www.capitolhillsuites.com, 800-424-9165 or 202/543-6000) is the closest to the training site. You will also find several Holiday Inns (http://holidayinn.com) available near Metro stops in DC and Virginia as well. Keep in mind that the Library is accessible by Metro from both the Blue and Orange lines at the Capitol South Station. Other accommodations on the Hill are B&Bs located in the northeast and southeast sections of Capitol Hill. You may check these two web sites at:
