With an archival/manuscript collection that contains oral histories in
either audio or video format, could one not use the TEI extension for oral
histories with the California Digital Library TEI Best Practice Guidelines
for Oral Histories to markup the oral histories, then use a namespace or
xlink to point to the TEI document in the EAD finding aid, putting a Dublin
Core header in the EAD and TEI documents to be harvested?
If you have many oral histories in a collection, you can markup each oral
history in TEI and have a link to each in the EAD finding aid, using the EAD
finding aid as the master document? Any other materials can be marked up
using other TEI extensions and links to them put in the finding aid, also.
If you use the EAD finding aid as the master document for a collection, it
doesn't matter what metadata scheme or XML schema you use to markup the item
surrogates because you can link all the item surrogates to the finding aid.
