Two different things. Exponential horns such as the Orthophonic horn
were for reproduction, not for recording. Recording generally demanded a
longer, narrower horn with no flare, whereas the best reproducing horns
were shorter, with a much wider taper and a flare. All of which is moot
because the Orthophonic horn was designed specifically to reproduce
records which had been made electrically, not acoustically.
