       Subject:  CBM Production Ceases
       
       Telex Communications, the manufacturing contractor of the C-1 cassette book
       machine, produced and shipped the final C-1 machine in March 2007.  As a result, the
       C-1 machine monthly allocation schedule for the network libraries has been
       discontinued. 
       
       The current stock of CBMs is sufficient to provide cassette machines to patrons
       beyond 2012, by which time it is expected that all patrons will be able to obtain a
       digital talking-book machine (DTBM).  In the interim, network libraries requiring
       additional cassette book machines should contact the NLS equipment control officer
       as noted below. 
       
       Your cooperation, and the efficient utilization of cassette machines, will ensure
