Network Bulletin No: 07-31
Date: June 8, 2007
Index term: NLS open house during the ALA
The American Library Association's (ALA) annual conference will be held in Washington, D.C.,
June 22-27, 2007.
ALA attendees from the NLS cooperating network, state library agencies, and other interested
individuals are invited to visit NLS at an open house on Monday, June 25, from 1:00-4:00 p.m.
There will be tours, refreshments, and demonstrations of the new digital talking-book machine.
NLS's facility is located at 1291 Taylor Street NW, in Washington, D.C. A cab is the best form of
transportation to NLS. Be sure to give the taxi driver the street address; if you say Library of
Congress you will be taken to Capitol Hill, which is relatively far from our location.
NLS is located about six blocks from the Georgia Avenue Petworth metro stop. To get there,
enter the metro at Mt. Vernon Square, take the Green line train marked Greenbelt. Four stops
later, exit at Georgia Avenue Petworth. Take the north station exit, and proceed north on Georgia
Avenue. Walk four blocks to Taylor Street, turn left, and walk two blocks to the NLS facility.
You will cross Kansas Avenue and continue west on Taylor, passing the Green Door. NLS is
located on the right side of Taylor Street in the middle of the block.
