Hi.
I would just like to remind people that when they create or upgrade
records, to remember to include the ISBNs. I know it sounds crazy, but for
some reason in my cataloging area, I run across PCC records without ISBNs
more often than I would like to. That is, there is an ISBN (or even
several) on the book, but none in the record.
We do a lot of automated processes here that depend on standard numbers.
Even if we have a person searching OCLC, if a matching record is found on
an ISBN search, he/she does not keep searching, thinking "hey maybe there
is still a better PCC record out there, maybe it just doesn't have the
ISBN in it." PCC records need the standard numbers for sure if we want
those records to get found and used. Thanks.
