Not taking a position one way or the other, I'm having trouble with the
analogy - tool and protocol.  A hammer, for example does one thing well
(does other things too but only one thing well), it bangs nails. That's it's
function.  But a protocol may have many functions. So I think you need to
draw out the analogy. What is the "single" thing that SRU does (should do)
