So it's a generic collection of citation processing stylesheets, where
the style is defined in a simpler XML language.
1) the release version (0.7.1*) does support MODS, though it's
basically orphaned. The styling schema has changed quite a bit since,
and I have not updated the code fully yet. I don't have time to finish
it these days, much less debug an orphaned version. Also, I've moved
away from using MODS internally.
note, though: I did manage to format a full book manuscript with it,
so it's more than proof-of-concept, even if there are some bugs

Still, you could probably borrow something or from it.
