Index term: 2008 schedule of orientation for network staff
A three-day, in-depth orientation program about NLS services is available in Washington, D.C. to
network staff. This comprehensive overview gives participants an opportunity to gain a deeper
understanding of NLS operations and services, to interact with NLS staff, and to meet colleagues from
around the network. Participants will be briefed on NLS functions by representatives from each of its
divisions, sections, and offices, with time allotted for questions. In addition, each registrant may choose
two one-hour, in-depth "Experience NLS" sessions on timely NLS topics such as Internet accessibility,
selection for the national collection, the Comprehensive Mailing List System (CMLS), or the
International Union Catalog. A tour of the Library of Congress buildings on Capitol Hill is also part of
the orientation. A sample schedule is available at www.loc.gov/nls/nlm/4_6_OrientationSchedule.html.
Participants are expected to attend the entire program.
The 2008 orientation schedule is:
March 12 14, Wednesday Friday
June 18 20, Wednesday Friday
