Subject :      Expanded Download Pilot

NLS will soon open the pilot book-and-magazine download site to patrons who are
active readers and who have purchased a third-party digital talking-book player to read
NLS digital books.

Once available NLS will provide network libraries with the URL where readers can
apply for access to the pilot download site. NLS will verify each applicant as an active
reader and notify them and their network libraries of their enrollment. At that time, they
will be issued user IDs, passwords, and instructions. When a network library receives
notification that a patron has been approved to access the site, it should enter the
CMLS code DDB9 into the circulation system. 

Detailed information and instructions will be available to the network once the pilot is
open to additional readers.
