Nerd that I am, I consider the schema itself the best documentation
of the data model.
There isn't an article devoted to specifically outlining the data
model, although I tried to
at least sketch some rough outlines in the chapter I did for Roy
Tennant's book XML in Libraries
and in the article I did for the International Journal of Digital
Libraries from last year. Admittedly
having a more understandable account of the data model for METS than
just the schema
declaration itself would be a good thing.
