SAR n 2004109819, NASCAR library collection, indicates in the 643 that it is
published by DK Pub.
Several pages on the NASCAR website, such as
wording such as:
"About NASCAR Library Collection"
"A division of NASCAR's overall licensing operation in its Charlotte office.
NASCAR Publishing currently oversees more than 30 licensed publishing
partners and more than 100 NASCAR-licensed titles in print. In 2004, NASCAR
launched the NASCAR Library Collection which provides a level of
authentication and quality to NASCAR-licensed books."
Following LC Descriptive Cataloging Manual (DCM) Section Z1's "How many SARs
should be made?", would "NASCAR library collection" fall under "(8) How many
series-like phrase heading SARs are made for the same phrase used by
different bodies?", and thus should be established as a series-like phrase
rather than a series? Alternatively, is it allowed for a series (rather than
series-like phrase) to be from various publishers, and so the 643 of that
SAR could be updated with "Various places$bvarious publishers"? Or should
separate series authority records be established for each of the publishers?
Examples of LC records with this series as a 440 (not from DK): 2004060860
(Chicken soup for the soul Nascar Xtreme race journal for kids), 2004116497
(NASCAR for dummies), 2005296387 (Twenty years of Hendrick Motorsports).
