"Discography" (a created word, "disc" [a phonorecord] + "graphy"
[writing about]...!) was simply a way to give a reputable name to
the accumulation of written data that arose once us "crazy" folks
started trying to assemble the data concerning phonorecords which
had been issued...!
There will probably be a new term...XXX (the collection of bytes/
bits which will provide an audible example of a given sound file)...?
Whether a sound recording is made available via a downloadable set
of ones and zeroes...or through a playable physical artifact...has
esentially nothing to do with either the actual physical object
which is (in theory) capable of reproduction...or some lesser,
possibly inaccurate entity...!
