Dear Colleague,
FLICC and the Library of Congress Preservation Directorate are hosting a meeting on creating a regional federal cooperative disaster response network - Safety Net: Networking for Disaster Response. The meeting is a follow up to the initial training provided to federal staff at the Library of Congress on disaster planning and recovery. We are now opening up participating in the program to the entire federal library community.
This is a rare opportunity to join a collaborative effort, and receive the ongoing benefit from learning about disaster planning and response from experts and sharing experiences of our colleagues.
By participating in the program, you will have the chance to:
* engage in a team effort to mitigate the impact of any future disaster,
* feel that you are part of a network of mutual assistance, and
* gain personal knowledge in the emerging critical professional competency of risk management.
The meeting will be held on February 25, 2008, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Mumford Room, 6th Floor of the James Madison Memorial Building, Library of Congress, 101 Independence Avenue, S.E., Washington, DC, 20540. Additional staff may attend via Web conference.
As part of the days' activities, you will have the opportunity to tour the new Library of Congress/Internet Archive scanning center. FEDLINK will soon be offering digitization services using this facility and we are very pleased to introduce you to the center before the meeting.
An agenda and registration form are attached, as well as the original invitation. If you plan to attend, please return the registration form by fax to Anne Harrison on 202-707-3434 by 12:00 noon on February 19, 2008.
We look forward to seeing you.
