Columbia International Affairs Online (CIAO) is the most comprehensive
source for theory and research in international affairs. It publishes a
wide range of scholarship from 1991 onward that includes working papers
from university research institutes, occasional papers series from NGOs,
foundation-funded research projects, proceedings from conferences,
books, journals and policy briefs.
Together with 400,000 pages of scholarly work and 10 years later, CIAO
remains the leader in providing the greatest peer-reviewed texts
relating to international affairs and is proud to announce its
partnership with the Economist Intelligence Unit. CIAO now posts
country data on 203 countries, detailed maps, and the political and
economic background, structure, and outlook.
Columbia Gazetteer of the World Online
www.columbiagazetteer.org
There is no other online global encyclopedia like the Gazetteer.
Compiled by an editorial board of 150 leading scholars from all parts of
the world, the Gazetteer includes coverage on: demography, physical
geography, and political boundaries; industry, trade, and agriculture;
cultural, historical, and archaeological points of interest;
transportation lines, longitude, latitude, and elevations; distance to
relevant places; official government place-names and changed or variant
names and spelling. The Gazetteer encompasses a wide range of uses,
from a quick reference tool to in-depth research resource.
When we launch our redesigned site later this year, we will support
searching by geographic coordinates, allow users to edit and sort their
search results on screen, and download the results to excel and
GIS-compatible GML for further data manipulation.
Columbia Earthscape
www.earthscape.org
Columbia Earthscape is an all-inclusive aggregation of resources in the
Earth and Environmental Sciences. Four sections of the compass provide
the teacher, student, scientist, or decision-maker instant access to the
tools you need to understand our planet. Lesson plans make it easy for
your instructors to teach students what they need to know about our
dynamic, changing planet!
Columbia Granger's World of Poetry
www.columbiagrangers.org
Columbia Granger's World of Poetry continues to provide an
authoritative reference for anthologized poetry, over 450,000 citations
in all. With the launch of our redesigned resource, we now provide over
250,000 full text poems, 1,000 poem commentaries, 600 glossary terms,
approximately 500 poet biographies, and full-text of 14 essential
Columbia University Press titles of poetry history and criticism. An
extensively rebuilt advanced search engine envisions searching beyond
the usual author, title, words in poem and subject by also supporting
searching by gender, language, nationality, poem form, schools and
movements, era, and nationality.
Assemble your own anthology using MyGranger*s, a search result save.
Share with friends or create coursework assignments both in and out of
the classroom. Our audio room features poetry being read by noted
contemporary poets, such as Paul Muldoon. Our innovative split screen
poem comparison lets users contrast poems -- translations, adaptations,
parodies -- or any two poems side-by-side.
