Library Aide/Clerk - U.S. Department of the Interior Library
Lockheed Martin/Aspen Systems Corporation, the contractor that currently
staffs the U.S. Department of the Interior Library in Washington, DC, is
seeking a temporary, part-time Library Aide/Clerk to work on site at the
DOI Library. The position requires an average of 20 hours per week at the
DOI Library and will expire on September 30, 2008. However, it is
possible that this position will be renewed into fiscal year 2009.
Specific Job Description:
Duties will include the detailed physical processing of print items in
the DOI Library collection. This will involve the shelf reading and
maintenance of the Library collection, supplemented with other duties as
necessary. Additional duties will include, but are not limited to the
shifting and shelving of library materials, photocopying, light typing,
data entry, scanning, and assisting the Library's technical staff.
Required Skills:
Ability to understand and work with Library of Congress classification
systems and other federal library procedures. Ability to use Microsoft
Word, Excel, and Outlook. Ability to work in detailed fashion and
create detailed reports. Ability to lift and carry up to forty pounds
at level of five feet without assistance. Ability to work individually
with limited supervision in a team environment. Must be a U.S.
citizen.
Desired Skills:
Some college experience and a "team player." Experience using
Integrated Library Systems (ILS) is preferred.
Security Clearance:
None. However a standard OPM background check will be conducted upon
hiring.
