Does your institution has a policy that every NAR is checked by someone
other than the cataloger who created the record before it is contributed:
No.
We recheck them immediately before uploading, and we find that this gives us
adequate quality control. Also, we have only two professional catalogers
in-house and therefore only two NACO inputters. With our workload, checking
each other's work would slow down production to a level management would not
countenance. However, it should also be mentioned that our fare is
overwhelmingly popular materials and the the authority problems we confront
tend to be relatively straightforward. We are somewhat more cautious with
series title authority records, having all of them checked by the SARs
coordinator.

Subject: Review of NACO contributions
Penn State is re-evaluating its procedures for contributing Name Authority
Records through NACO. We would like to know whether your institution has a
policy that every NAR is checked by someone other than the cataloger who
created the record before it is contributed. If so, do you feel that this
level of quality control is justified in terms of the errors identified?
