The example looks reasonable to me. I think you have the option to leave
out the sequence number since it is implicit in the relationship
subtype. The note under relatedObjectSequence says:
"This semantic unit could be implemented in several ways. It might be
recorded explicitly in metadata as a sequence number or pointer. It
might be implicit in some ordering of objects, for example, incrementing
identifier values. The value of relationshipSubType might imply the
sequence (e.g., "is preceding sibling," "is following sibling").
In other words, since PREMIS is the information you need to know and it
might be known by some means other than explicitly encoding it (and in
this case is know by relationshipSubType), you have the option to leave
it out. But if you wanted to be safe and leave it in, I think the way
you did it is fine.
I have one example in the PREMIS tutorials that links to an instance of
PREMIS in DIDL:
http://www.unm.edu/~zxie/did.xml
Thanks to Zhiwu Xie for this.
I might encourage you to use PREMIS 2.0 instead of 1.1 (but I am sure
there are reasons why you aren't).

Hi!
We have a newspaper digitization project going on and for metadata we
are using MODS and PREMIS (with object characteristics extensions). We
have had some problems interpreting the PREMIS standard on how to use
the relatedObject tag. It would be of much help for us if someone on
this list could have a look at the xml example below and tell us if we
are on the right track or not. The example is just an extract of an xml
file and shows the relationship tag of page nr 2 of a newspaper issue.
As we have understood it, in PREMIS you express sequence numbering by
pointing out relationships to the preceding and following files.
We are planning to use DIDL instead of METS. Is there anyone out there
who has some experiences and examples to share with us?
Many thanks for your help!
