The Policy and Standards Office (formerly CPSO) has considered declaring the current version of the Felix Mendelssohn Name Authority Record as the official AARC2 form (based on the 670 information in the NAR today there is sufficient justification for upgrading the 008/10 from "d" to "c") They have also considered attempting to bring the heading into "pure" compliance with AACR2.

The Policy Office has responded that determining the "pure" AACR2 form would result in an inefficient and costly use of resources and possibly a great deal of  unnecessary bibliographic file maintenance.  Therefore, the Policy and Standards Division has decided that it will accept the form of the current heading as the AACR2 form and will change byte 008/10 from "d" to "c", will add a 667 to indicate the decision made, and will also change all associated name/title NARs to reflect this decision.
