Style Sheets for EAD: Delivering Your Finding Aids on the Web #0958
Thu, May 14, 2009 - Fri, May 15, 2009
9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Cornell University
Ithaca, NY
Early-Bird Registration Deadline: April 17, 2009
Become the master of your finding aids, and learn how to transform
EAD-encoded finding aids into Web documents whose appearance is customized
for participants' institution and users. This two-day workshop provides an
introduction to style sheets, in particular the XSLT programming language,
as they are used to format archival finding aids for the Web. If you have a
basic understanding of the EAD element set and the HTML encoding scheme,
you're ready to take the next big step and create or modify style sheets.
Upon completing this workshop, you'll have:
* Gained a fundamental understanding of XSLT concepts;
* Produced a basic style sheet; and,
* Reviewed how it affects the display of a finding aid.
Two instructors, Michael J. Fox and Kris Kiesling, facilitate this highly
interactive, hands-on workshop to provide a substantial level of practice to
participants.
Who should attend? Archivists, programmers and system administrators using
TEI and other XML applications.
