Zoe's Tale is also YA, so three of the 5 Best Novel nominees, indicating that many of the nominators agreed with Diana that YA literature formed some of the best reading of the year. And doesn't that say something that YA can compete in a completely open category rather than being relegated to a "ghetto" where it is only up against other YA novels?
I'll note that the Nebulas (for which there is also no YA category, although SFWA now offers to Andre Norton Award for YA novels) has two YA novels in the Best Novel category this year (Powers and Little Brother).
