:: RODA demo open to the general public ::

RODA is an open source digital repository specially designed for  
archives, with long-term preservation and authenticity as its primary  
objectives. Created by the Portuguese Directorate-General for the  
Portuguese Archives in partnership with the University of Minho, it  
was designed to support the most recent archival standards and become  
a trustworthy digital repository.

RODA embodies high level standards of security, scalability and  
usability. Its centralized architecture enables an easy management  
while the self-deposit ingest tools and workflow procedures account  
for the scalability of the human-resources.

RODA's main features are:
- Based on standards (OAIS, METS, EAD, PREMIS, etc.)
- Long-term Preservation and Authenticity
- TRAC compliant (Trustworthy Repositories Audit & Certification)
- Secure (SSL, fine grained permissions)
- Scalable (SOA)
- Clean web user interface and ingest desktop tool
- For archivists, for producers, for consumers
- Open source

A DEMO installation of RODA is now open to the general public at the  
URL: http://roda.di.uminho.pt

Several accounts have been created based on the following profiles:

:: Consumer - The role played by those persons, or client systems, who  
interact with the repository to find preserved information of interest  
and to access that information in detail. This can include other  
OAISs, as well as internal OAIS persons or systems. These users may  
search and browser public information on the repository.
- Username: consumer
- Password: consumer

:: Producer - The role played by those persons, or client systems, who  
provide the information to be preserved by the repository. These users  
may submit information packages to the repository.
-  Username: producer
-  Password: producer

:: Archivist - The role played by the person responsible for editing  
descriptive metadata and accepting/rejecting submission information  
packages.
-  Username: archivist
-  Password: archivist

:: Administrator - The role played by the person who has the  
responsability to schedule preservation actions, monitor repository  
actions, inspect statistics
-  Username: administrator
-  Password: administrator

Because this is a demonstration server some features were disabled,  
namely:
-  Encrypted access (SSL): DEACTIVATED
-  Persistent identifiers (Handle System): DEACTIVATED
-  Fedora Commons and Fedora Generic Search: EXPOSED
-  Internationalization: NOT yet complete. Some pages are still in  
portuguese.
WARNING: The repository will be reseted every few days without  
previous warning. All content and modifications will be lost.
