Richard, and Fred, I apologize! I somehow missed a zero in the spec -
misread them as .03 and .02, when it was actually:
Ampex ATR-100
Absolute speed accuracy +/- 0.03 %
Speed variation from beginning to end of reel 0.02 %
Studer A810
Tape speed deviation +/- 0.2 %
Tape slip max 0.1 %
So there's the difference a zero makes! Thanks for responding as
though I had asked an intelligent question.
The manual for my A-807 says tape speed deviation, +/- 0.2% same as
the A810. I could have looked it up and saved some discussion.
