So I've been streaming the Norman Pellegrini tribute special, and they just finished an excerpt from a 1970s program he did on Bruno Walter.Norm mentioned that Walter made his recordings in 1900 in Berlin conducting pieces from "Carmen".

Lists the 1923 Polydors as the earliest recordings.I have one of these 78s,and the DGG Lp that these were collected on.I was not aware of any 1900 recordings.I assume they were for the German Berliner company that was sort of the earliest incarnation of DGG.Were these ever reissued ? Prior to this, the earliest recording I was aware of by a regular symphony orchestra was the Édouard Colonne for Pathe.
