I am receiving enough questions that it's obvious I need to clarify the section about coordinators and funnels.
It is not our intention to upset existing institutional or funnel internal arrangements for reporting BFM and duplicates. Please continue to go through your established institutional or funnel coordinator, who will then relay your reports to the [log in to unmask] account.
If you are working in a specific topic, such as Music, or language, such as Arabic or Hebrew, continue working with the LC section or LC person with whom you have always worked. In many cases, we already forward inquiries in these areas from the naco e-mail account to your usual contacts.
BFM and Duplicate Reporting for NACO
We have developed a new workflow in the Coop Section at LC to handle
reports from PCC members of bibliographic file maintenance and duplicate
name authority records. A rotation of Cooperative Programs Section
members will handle e-mails sent to our generic e-mail address,
[log in to unmask] .
NACO members should direct reportable BFM) and athority deletion
requests to [log in to unmask], indicating "BFM/NAR deletion* in the Subject
line.
For guidelines on BFM, see
http://www.loc.gov/catdir/pcc/naco/bfmguide.html
Institutions under full or partial review should continue to inform
their NACO reviewers directly when headings are submitted to Connexion
for review
SACO members who run into name authority related problems may report
either to [log in to unmask] or to [log in to unmask]
Special languages or topics and funnels should continue to report to
their assigned coordinator, e.g., Arabic, CJK, Hebrew, Music
PCC members may begin to follow this new reporting practice
immediately.
